Our Mission
Our mission is to empower women who have faced the challenges of breast cancer by providing them with an opportunity to rediscover and reclaim their identities through a transformative makeover and runway show. Beauty in Bloom aims to alleviate the burden of redefining personal style and self-expression by reconnecting women with their inherent beauty both inside and out.
The Cause
According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), 1 out of 4 people diagnosed with breast cancer
experience depression. A breast cancer diagnosis often triggers a range of emotional challenges, including
depression, anxiety, and distress. Treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery can lead to
significant physical changes, causing psychological distress and a sense of loss of femininity. These
changes, affecting hair, nails, and skin, often contribute to issues with body image and confidence.
Research conducted by the National Institute of Medicine (NIH) found that a staggering 74.8% of
103 women expressed dissatisfaction with their body image following breast cancer treatment.
Additionally, according to the American Cancer Society (ACS), between 31% and 67% of an
estimated 3.1 million breast cancer survivors experience concerns about body image.
